In this series of short videos, I am interested in ideas of beauty, perfection, and context. By removing imagery of skin, hair, lips, meat, casserole, and other various “perfect” examples of objects from their original context I create different; sometimes grotesque figures, questioning firstly what the object is and secondly what the object might be or become. When the object is removed from its original context does it still function as beautiful? Can a perfect casserole still look like vomit? Or can an equilibrium be created where the grotesque and the beautiful meet, and become something else.
In these narratives I personify aspects of human nature while removing the viewer from the direct context of human history by creating an alien race. Mirroring human culture with this created mythology I am presenting a new view of these personified qualities. There is no hero, there is no villan. Who, then is wrong and who right?
